Puddle Jumpers

In the past few weeks, we've had several really great storms. In front of our home we get what appears to be Lake Michigan in the desert. My kids love to run, peddle and ride through it. Objective: Make the biggest splash! This Saturday, the competition was stiff and the outcome comicle.

Snow Bunnies

Miraculous things- really do happen. Me getting on skiis again- is one of them. It has literally been 12 years since I last hit the slopes! Sean's not much of a ski bum, so I haven't been since the good ol' days of singlehood and ski dates.
Hence- when my sister Emily called to suggest we enroll the "big" kids in lessons and hit the slopes for a day- there was no hesitation on my end! I took Duston & Jerett and she took Taylor & Riley. They spent the day learning from the BH master instructors- (and they all did REALLY well!) I spent the day testing "muscle memory"- A challenging test- to say the least- but by the end of the day, my confidence was back and the fire within has been rekindled. Heading up to Brian Head again this Friday! WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!

3 Sisters, 13.1 Miles

Occasionally I find myself looking for a good excuse to get away with the gals for a weekend. I've discovered that "running events" are a sure ticket to that kind of freedom and fun. Since it seems that in life, nothing is free, then this is a sweet deal. Sure it's a lot of work to train & prepare, but the rewards are so worth it. The Painter's Half Marathon in St. George is one of my favorites. It was my inaugural run in January 2006- the one that started it all. This was my fourth time running it. Luckily I had good company- Cassie (who ran her first "Half" here last year) and Amy- her Inaugural! We all crossed the finish line alive and upright. It was so fun to spend time together: pasta dinner, the movie and junk food, the late-night chat, the celebration lunch and shopping. All in all it was a great get-away! Thanks- ladies for all the fun and encouragment! Thanks, Sean, for keeping the kids- at home- and for supporting my training.
